The general commander of the Sudanese Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah al‑Burhan, said on Sunday that if the United Arab Emirates is part of the Quad group, Khartoum considers the group “not free of responsibility”.
He stated, “The whole world has seen that the UAE is the party supporting the rebels against the Sudanese state.”
Speaking during a meeting with senior army officers of major general rank and above, he said Sudan cannot accept the UAE as a mediator in the conflict.
He referred to comments by Massad Boulos, the US president’s senior adviser for Middle East and Africa affairs, about alleged Muslim Brotherhood influence in the army. Al‑Burhan said this narrative has long been promoted by the UAE and is merely a tool to influence the Americans, Saudis, and Egyptians.
He described the claim as “a blatant lie”, emphasising that the military is capable of reforming and restructuring itself.
The commander‑in‑chief also accused the Rapid Support Forces of killing and looting Sudanese civilians and committing acts of genocide and ethnic cleansing. He added that some countries support these forces, but Sudan rejects them.
He said: “We are not advocates of war and we do not reject peace, but no one can threaten us or impose conditions on us,” adding, “The Sudanese people are not weak, and neither is their army.”
Al‑Burhan reaffirmed his confidence in the officers, non‑commissioned officers, and soldiers, saying this trust is a source of strength.
He also stated that the army is determined to regain all territory in Kordofan and Darfur. “We will expel them from this Sudan, and victory will be ours as long as we are on the right path,” he said.
He added: “We are determined to fight this battle with honour and dignity, without any foreign interference,” stressing that the “battle of dignity” belongs to all Sudanese and is a fight for the survival of the Sudanese people.
