A video published on Thursday documented the moment two Palestinian men were shot dead after fully surrendering during an Israeli army siege of homes in the Jabal Abu Zuhair area near Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank.
The footage shows a military bulldozer demolishing the entrance of a storage room inside one of the besieged houses. Two young men then appeared, raising their hands in surrender. After being completely detained, they were ordered to return inside the house, where they were shot dead on the spot.
The video also captured a bulldozer dragging and mistreating the body of one of the victims, in a scene reflecting the level of brutality accompanying the military operation.
The killings took place as Israeli forces carried out a large deployment in Jenin, with special units and snipers positioned on rooftops. A military bulldozer also took part in demolition work around the camp.
Witnesses said the army targeted the besieged house with a shoulder-launched projectile during the clashes, destroying parts of the building.
The army announced that combat helicopters provided air support for commando forces during the operation, which is part of a military campaign launched on Wednesday in the northern West Bank.
In a statement, the army said the campaign, called Five Stones, involves forces from several brigades, including the Commando Brigade, along with the Shin Bet and Border Police, and aims to “foil operations” in a number of northern West Bank towns.
