Gaza tribes on Abu Shabab’s killing: the occupation has never afforded safety to anyone

The Higher Commission for Tribal Affairs in Gaza said that the death of Yasser Abu Shabab was expected for someone who chose to abandon his people, their values and traditions, and to stand with their enemy instead of remaining loyal to what it called a just cause.

In a statement issued on Thursday evening, the council said that the Palestinian people — with all their factions, national forces, tribes and families — clearly distinguish between a political dispute, which can be managed and resolved through dialogue, and becoming, as it put it, a soldier in the ranks of the occupying forces, which it said care only about crushing the will of the Palestinians.

The statement added that the occupying forces have never offered safety to anyone, even those under their protection. It said they protect only their own interests and recognise only the power imposed on the ground.

The council said that those who choose to work with the occupying forces will always face what it described as betrayal and an inevitable end.

It added that the Palestinian people have completely withdrawn any protection from those it described as criminals whose hands are stained with Palestinian blood, rejecting them because of what it called their attacks on Palestinian rights and holy sites.

The council stressed that there is no place among Palestinians for anyone who chooses, in its words, the path of collaboration or complicity with the occupying forces.
