Israeli media, citing Palestinian sources, reported that dozens of armed members of groups collaborating with the occupation against Hamas have voluntarily handed themselves over to Hamas security forces in the Gaza Strip over the past 48 hours.

The sources said the rate of voluntary surrender has noticeably increased since Friday, particularly in Rafah and Khan Younis, where the main armed militias—previously openly supported by Israel—are active.

The move follows a call by the Ministry of Interior in Gaza last Friday, urging those involved in criminal groups linked to Israel to surrender immediately to the security forces to address their cases and reduce legal consequences.

In a statement issued after the killing of Yasser Abu Shabab, the leader of the militias collaborating with Israel in Gaza last Thursday, the ministry said his death “represents the inevitable fate of anyone who involves themselves with the occupation.”

The statement added: “We call on all those involved in criminal groups linked to the occupation to surrender immediately to the security forces so that their cases can be handled according to the law, which will help reduce the severity of legal proceedings.”
