The Civil Defence in Gaza City has continued transferring bodies from Palestinian hospitals in the city. After moving 40 bodies from the courtyard of Al-Ahli (Al-Ma’amadani) Hospital, the teams proceeded to Al-Shifa Hospital.
At the beginning of the ground invasion, when tanks took control of the area, citizens were forced to bury the martyrs inside and around the hospital grounds. Later, the situation became even more difficult.
Ibrahim Abu Al-Reesh, director of the medical teams in the Civil Defence, explained that the occupation forces returned to the original burial site, bulldozed the graves again, and caused severe disorder, mixing the bodies together.
He confirmed that the teams are now working to recover the bodies—some of which are found in layered sequences—using the very limited tools they have, in an effort to help families identify their relatives and ensure they are buried according to Islamic traditions.
