Israeli occupation forces issued a new military order on Sunday to demolish 25 additional buildings inside Nur Shams refugee camp, located east of the city of Tulkarm in the occupied West Bank.
Tulkarm Governor Abdullah Kmeil called on the international community, human rights organisations, as well as diplomatic missions and embassies, to intervene immediately to stop the implementation of the decision.
Kmeil said the move is a continuation of Israeli practices and violations against the Palestinian people in the Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps. He added that it falls within a policy of systematic destruction targeting civilians and their property, which has led to widespread forced displacement among residents of the two camps.
He stressed that these measures represent a clear violation of international law, international conventions and norms, as well as human rights law and international humanitarian law. He renewed his call for urgent action to halt the ongoing attacks on Tulkarm governorate, its two refugee camps, and its towns and villages.
During the summer of this year, the Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps witnessed extensive demolition operations that affected more than 100 buildings and housing units, as part of attempts to change their geographical features.
