Israel is considering a plan to build a prison surrounded by crocodiles, according to a media report.

The deputy commissioner of the Israel Prison Service has visited a crocodile farm in Hamat Gader as part of preparations for the proposed project.

Israeli TV channel i24NEWS reported on Tuesday that the visit was an educational tour linked to plans for a new prison proposed by National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir. The plan reportedly involves surrounding the prison with crocodiles and is inspired by a model linked to the US president Donald Trump.

Under the Trump model, the US prison is located in Everglades National Park in Florida, an area where crocodiles live naturally. However, the site is not necessarily surrounded by walls. The presence of crocodiles is intended to be a strong deterrent against escape.

The idea of building a prison surrounded by crocodiles was raised during a meeting between Minister Ben Gvir and Israel Prison Service Commissioner Kobi Yaakobi, amid growing concerns about inmates attempting to escape from prison.
