Saudi deputy FM discusses peace efforts in Sudan with Burhan

The head of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council and commander-in-chief of the armed forces, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, met on Wednesday with Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji in the city of Port Sudan.       

According to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA), al-Khuraiji conveyed greetings from the Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and their wishes for lasting peace and security for the Sudanese people.

In response, al-Burhan expressed his gratitude to the Saudi leadership for their interest in sustaining peace and stability in Sudan, noting the strong historical and fraternal ties between the two nations.

The council head also praised former US President Donald Trump for his attention to Sudan and his efforts to stop the war and promote peace.

The meeting, SUNA reported, addressed the peace initiative sponsored by the Saudi Crown Prince and the US president, aimed at resolving the Sudanese crisis and establishing peace. The discussion also covered the current situation in the region.

Additionally, the talks reviewed preparations for the strategic coordination council between Sudan and Saudi Arabia, which enjoys the full support of the leadership in both countries.
