Activists in Britain have announced the launch of a global online campaign to support Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.

The campaign, titled Red Ribbons, is due to start next Thursday, 15 January, at 6pm GMT. It will begin at 7pm West European time, 8pm Jerusalem time, and 9pm Mecca time.

Organisers explained that people can take part by visiting the campaign link, changing their profile picture, downloading the new image with a solidarity frame, and using it across all their social media accounts.

“The campaign also called for wider posting and reposting on social media to show support for Palestinian hostages and prisoners, using the hashtags #FreePalHostages and #الحرية_للأسرى.”

Mustafa Barghouti, politician and secretary-general of the Palestinian National Initiative, urged people to join the campaign. He said there are “10,000 Palestinian hostages suffering torture, starvation and threats to their lives” in Israeli prisons.
