Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected to visit Egypt in the coming days for talks with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on regional developments, according to senior Egyptian sources cited by Al Arabiya/Al Hadath news agency.
The sources said on Thursday that the visit will include discussions on a range of shared security, political and economic issues.
A meeting of the Strategic Cooperation Council, chaired by the two presidents, is also expected to take place, with talks focusing on ways to strengthen cooperation across several sectors.
The discussions are expected to cover developments related to the Palestinian issue, as well as the situations in Sudan and Libya.
Egypt and Turkey are also preparing to hold the second meeting of the Strategic Cooperation Council during the first quarter of 2026, to be chaired by Sisi and Erdogan.
In early January, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty held a phone call with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss preparations for the second session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.
Abdel-Aty underlined the importance of the meeting in bolstering the bilateral partnership, particularly in the economic, trade and investment sectors, in a move he said would help maximise the shared interests of the two countries.
