Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said on Wednesday that Tehran has not received any specific proposal from the United States amid ongoing negotiations between the two countries.

In remarks broadcast on Iranian television, Larijani said the talks are strictly confined to the nuclear file and do not extend to other issues, stressing that Iran will not engage in negotiations on non-nuclear matters.

He confirmed that discussions remain under way and noted that some regional countries are seeking to help steer the process towards tangible results.

Larijani said Iran is adhering to a policy of “positive negotiation”, adding that Washington had taken a “rational approach” by entering the talks.

However, he ruled out any agreement requiring a complete halt to uranium enrichment, arguing that Iran’s energy needs make such a concession unacceptable.

Earlier in the day, Larijani said no date had yet been set for the next round of Iranian-American talks, following the initial meeting held last Friday in Muscat, the capital of Oman.

He also warned the United States to remain alert to potential Israeli attempts to undermine the negotiations, urging US President Donald Trump not to allow Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to shape the framework of the discussions.
