The Egyptian government has denied reports that a ship carrying materials for military use had docked at Abu Qir port en route to Israel, describing the claims as “false rumours.”

In a statement issued Thursday, the Ministry of State for Information said it had reviewed reports circulating in some media outlets and on social media alleging that a foreign vessel had arrived at the Mediterranean port carrying steel used in weapons and ammunition manufacturing.

The ministry rejected the claims, stating that all port operations in Egypt are conducted under strict monitoring systems and in accordance with international maritime agreements, with real-time tracking in place.

It urged media organisations and social media users to verify information through official sources before dissemination, stressing the importance of professional standards in reporting.

The allegations were initially raised by the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which claimed that the ship “MSC Danit” had docked at Abu Qir carrying 15 containers of steel with potential military applications bound for Israel.

Egyptian authorities said these claims are baseless, reaffirming that no such shipment had been processed through the port.
