In tents that offer little protection from heat or cold, and under the constant sound of conflict far removed from a safe childhood, children in Gaza are trying to live what remains of their days with a measure of hope.
School is no longer just a building for them. It has become a simple dream they long to regain, after classrooms were reduced to rubble, books became scarce, and school bags faded into distant memory.
Many children now wake up to a reality unlike anything they once knew. There are no school bells or playgrounds. Instead, they sit for hours on hard ground in overcrowded tents, trying to learn letters or solve basic exercises.
Some share a single notebook with several classmates, while others write on scattered papers. Teachers continue to give lessons amid the noise of the camps and the harsh conditions.
Despite this, determination remains clear on their faces. A child smiles after successfully reading a new word, while a girl insists on attending every day despite exhaustion. For them, education is not just a right, but a way to hold on to life itself.
