The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) reported that 1,725 people have been newly displaced from the city of Qaysan in Sudan’s Blue Nile State, marking the second wave of displacement in recent days due to escalating clashes.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the organisation said its teams recorded the displacement of 345 families on Monday as a result of deteriorating security conditions in the area.

According to the IOM, those displaced have fled toward Al-Rusayris city and the Wad Al-Mahi area within Blue Nile State.

The organization described the situation as “highly tense and volatile,” adding that it continues to closely monitor developments as fighting intensifies.

This latest displacement follows an earlier incident reported on 25th March, when the IOM documented the displacement of 1,645 people from Qaysan amid renewed violence.

For nearly two weeks, Blue Nile State has witnessed escalating clashes involving the Sudanese army, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N), which is aligned with the Sudanese Armed Forces, further compounding the humanitarian situation in the region.
