Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said on Thursday that his country does not seek war, but will not give up its rights.

In a statement read on Iranian state television and attributed to Khamenei, he said Iran would move the management of the Strait of Hormuz into a “new phase”, without providing further details.

He added that Iran is determined to “take revenge” for its late Supreme Leader, stressing that all resistance fronts are considered a unified entity.

Khamenei also called on Iranian citizens not to leave the streets, despite what he described as “negotiations with the enemy”.

The remarks come after the United States and Israel launched an attack on Iran on 28 February, killing thousands, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other officials. Tehran responded by firing missiles and drones towards Israel.

Iran also targeted what it said were US sites and interests in Arab countries. However, some of the attacks caused casualties and damage to civilian property, drawing condemnation from the affected states.
