A drone attack targeted a camp belonging to the Komala Kurdish opposition group in Sulaimaniyah province in northern Iraq.

According to local media cited by Anadolu Agency, two drones struck the camp. No immediate information was available about casualties.

Videos circulating on social media showed a drone crashing into houses inside the camp, causing a large explosion and sending smoke billowing from the site.

In a related development, the counter-terrorism unit of the Kurdistan Regional Government said that two additional drone attacks targeted Erbil province. It added that fighter jets intercepted and shot down the drones without causing casualties or material damage.

No party has claimed responsibility for the attacks and their source remains unknown.

Iran announced on 8 April a halt to attacks in the region following a temporary ceasefire agreement with the US, affirming its commitment to the cessation of hostilities.

Meanwhile, Iranian-backed groups in Iraq have carried out attacks against neighbouring countries.

On Sunday, Iran and the US concluded a round of negotiations in Islamabad without reaching a final agreement to end the war, amid mutual accusations over responsibility for the stalled talks.

Washington and Tehran had earlier announced a two-week ceasefire, brokered by Pakistan, as a step towards broader negotiations aimed at ending the war that began on 28 February.
