Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps conducted military exercises in Tehran amid growing tensions and warnings that the regional ceasefire could collapse.

According to Iranian state media, the drills involved both the Revolutionary Guard and its affiliated Basij units.

State television quoted Brigadier General Hassan Hassanzadeh as saying the exercises were aimed at strengthening combat readiness against what he described as potential actions by the “American-Zionist enemy”.

He said the scenarios carried out during the drills had been implemented successfully.

The developments come more than two months after the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran, triggering a regional conflict that expanded across the Middle East and disrupted global markets.

Following the outbreak of war, Iran imposed restrictions on navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil, gas and fertiliser supplies, in what Tehran described as economic pressure against Washington and its allies.

At the same time, the United States Navy has maintained a blockade around Iranian ports, with reports of ships being diverted or disrupted while travelling to and from Iran.
