Hamas said on Monday that the dissolution of the Gaza government’s emergency committee is part of the arrangements to transfer administrative responsibilities to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), warning that Israel is trying to create an “administrative vacuum” in the territory.
In a statement, the group said it remains “fully committed” to implementing all provisions of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and will continue to abide by it until the administration of the territory is fully transferred to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza.
Hamas said the dissolution of the emergency committee and the resignation of its head, Mohammed Abdel Khaleq Al-Farra, who also served as acting head of the Government Follow-up Committee, are part of the administrative and legal preparations needed to transfer responsibilities to the national committee.
The group accused Israel of attempting to obstruct the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and create an “administrative vacuum” in Gaza, saying the aim is to deepen the suffering of Palestinians and undermine efforts to restore normal life in the territory.
It called on the mediators and guarantor countries to take urgent action and pressure Israel to stop what it described as attempts to obstruct the agreement and to allow the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza to enter Gaza and begin its work.
The announcement comes as talks continue in Cairo to complete the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, with the latest round of meetings having taken place on 30 June 2026.
