Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem survived an Israeli airstrike on Thursday after his vehicle was targeted near Abbas Junction, west of Gaza City, according to Palestinian sources.
The strike reportedly killed Mohammad al-Fayoumi, who was accompanying Qassem at the time of the attack.
The reported assassination attempt came amid continued Israeli military operations in Gaza despite the ceasefire, according to Palestinian officials.
Palestinian sources said that at least six Palestinians were killed and several others wounded in a series of Israeli airstrikes carried out on Thursday.
In a separate incident later in the day, one Palestinian was reported killed and several others injured when an Israeli drone struck a civilian vehicle west of Gaza City.
Earlier, two Palestinians were reportedly killed and others wounded in a drone strike targeting a group of civilians in the area between Batn al-Samin and al-Hawouz, west of Khan Younis.
Palestinian sources also reported that three additional people were killed in Israeli strikes in Nuseirat and the eastern part of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza.
The Israeli military had not immediately commented on the reported strikes or on the alleged targeting of Hazem Qassem at the time of publication.
