US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said progress toward peace between Israel and Lebanon could be achieved if Hezbollah ceased to play a role in Lebanon, describing the group as an “Iranian puppet.”

Huckabee’s comments came following Israel’s decision to release five Lebanese citizens, a move described as a goodwill gesture amid diplomatic efforts involving Israel and Lebanon.

“Progress toward peace between Israel and Lebanon” could occur “the moment the Iranian puppet Hezbollah disappears,” Huckabee said.

The ambassador also thanked US Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa for his efforts in connection with the latest developments.

Huckabee argued that removing Hezbollah from the equation would create greater opportunities for progress in relations between Israel and Lebanon.
