Hamas says Israel exploits Board of Peace silence to step up Gaza attacks

Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said on Tuesday that Israel’s destruction of homes near displacement camps in Gaza showed it is continuing its attacks on Palestinians.

Qassem said Israel is exploiting the Board of Peace’s silence and weak response, along with the failure of mediators and Arab and Islamic states to take practical steps to stop the attacks.

He called on all parties to move beyond statements and take practical steps to stop the attacks, warning that the lack of effective measures would allow Israel to continue killing Palestinians and destroying their homes as a prelude to displacing them.

The comments came as Israeli aircraft carried out a series of strikes on homes and groups of Palestinians in several parts of the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, killing several people and wounding others.

Since 7th October 2023, Israel has carried out what Palestinian authorities describe as a genocide in Gaza, with US and European support, involving killings, starvation, destruction, displacement and arrests, while ignoring international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt the attacks.

The campaign has killed or wounded more than 239,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, and left more than 11,000 missing, according to Palestinian official figures. It has also displaced hundreds of thousands of people and caused famine that has killed many, mostly children, while widespread destruction has devastated much of the Gaza Strip.
