Turkiye’s Havelsan, Egyptian AOI ink sales deal for jointly developed drone

Turkish Havelsan and Egyptian Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) signed a deal to start sales of their jointly developed Hamza-1 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), Anadolu reports.

The contract was finalized during the El Alamein International Airshow 2026, marking a new milestone in the two firms’ collaboration.

The deal followed a cooperation agreement signed in August 2025 to establish the framework to manufacture vertical takeoff and landing drones in Egypt.

Havelsan’s autonomous systems engineering and AOI’s localized manufacturing infrastructure were combined in the making of the Hamza-1 platform.

Havelsan drew upon its technological expertise developed in its own domestic drone platforms, including the Baha, Bozbey, Poyraz and Bulut drones.

The initial prototype of the Hamza-1 was unveiled at the EDEX defense expo in Cairo late last year.

The joint partnership expects to start delivering the Hamza-1 drone to end-users after the newly signed commercial deal.

The successful commercialization of the platform also highlights the growing defense cooperation between Türkiye and Egypt, alongside Havelsan’s global co-production strategy.
