GAFP slams Israeli entry ban on its chair, Jeremy Corbyn MP, and British public figures

The Global Alliance for Palestine (GAFP) has issued a press statement strongly condemning the decision by the Israeli government to ban its Steering Committee Chairman, Jeremy Corbyn MP, alongside eleven other British public figures, from entering Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

GAFP said; “This decision directly follows news that the UK government will impose trade restrictions and import bans on goods produced in illegal West Bank settlements. In reality, this entry ban will change nothing. It will not silence Jeremy Corbyn, nor will it deter any of those targeted from continuing their resolute fight for Palestinian rights, justice, and self-determination. Instead, this ban serves only to expose the arbitrary and aggressive measures the Israeli administration routinely employs in an effort to suppress, intimidate, and penalise anyone who exposes the reality of its illegal occupation and demands adherence to international law.”

The statement added; “We stand firmly against this measure not only because it is an overt attempt to silence democratic representatives and civil society voices, but because it seeks to insulate illegal policies from lawful scrutiny and global accountability.”

GAFP said it is deeply revealing that even following the news of these trade restrictions, Jeremy Corbyn consistently pressed the UK government to go further – demanding a complete end to military cooperation, a full arms embargo, and accountability before international courts.

“The attempt to target him is a direct response to that unyielding stance. This measure stands as a clear testament to Chair Corbyn’s principled leadership and unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause over decades of dedicated advocacy;” the statement read.

GAFP stressed that it did not consider these actions as a setback, but “as confirmation of the impact of principled opposition to illegal occupation. Denying entry to parliamentarians, lawyers, and human rights advocates cannot obscure the reality on the ground, nor can it diminish the global movement for justice.”
