Lebanese army gets 47 Humvees, 5 trucks under US assistance programs

The Lebanese army said Tuesday that it had received 47 Humvee military vehicles and five trucks as part of US assistance programs for the armed forces, Anadolu reports.

A military statement said that the vehicles were delivered at Beirut port.

“This grant comes within the framework of US authorities’ support for the military institution, with the aim of strengthening its operational capabilities and raising the readiness of its units,” the statement said.

It added that the initiative “reflects the confidence of the US authorities in the army’s role in maintaining security and stability in Lebanon.”

The delivery came a week after the Lebanese army received 70 containers of various types of ammunition at Beirut port under US assistance programs.

The aid comes amid international efforts to mobilize support for the Lebanese army and the Internal Security Forces.

​​​​​​​On Sept. 17, Paris hosted an international preparatory meeting ahead of a broader donor conference to support the Lebanese army and Internal Security Forces, expected to be held in late 2026 or early 2027.
