The US Embassy in Saudi Arabia on Monday urged American citizens to remain “vigilant” over the current security situation and the potential for drone or missile attacks, Anadolu reports.
In a security alert on the US diplomatic mission’s website, the embassy and consulates in the country encouraged US citizens to follow guidance provided through national alerts issued by Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense.
The US mission said there had been no change to its security and operational posture.
“Regular and emergency consular services are available for U.S. citizens,” it added.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the US intends to uphold its bilateral security commitments with Saudi Arabia amid renewed military confrontations involving Houthi forces in Yemen.
Yemen has been mired in conflict since the Houthis seized the capital Sanaa and several provinces in 2014, prompting a Saudi-led coalition to intervene in 2015 in support of the internationally recognized government. A 2022 truce collapsed this July, and fighting has since escalated.
