Hamas leader Ghazi Hamad said the movement had made major efforts since the start of the war to end the bloody conflict and what he described as the genocidal war against the Palestinian people, working with mediators, the US administration and several other parties to reach an agreement and end the war.
Speaking to Al Jazeera on Monday evening, Hamad said Palestinians, political factions and Hamas had done everything possible to reach an agreement, making major concessions and taking significant steps in coordination with Palestinian political factions and mediators.
He said Hamas had hoped ceasefire agreements reached in the Egyptian cities of Sharm el-Sheikh and El Alamein would lead to international action to end the genocidal war, but described the international position as “shameful”, saying the policy of bloodshed against the Palestinian people had not stopped.
Hamad said Israel preferred a state of war and destruction and did not want peace or stability, adding that “the occupation does not accept a peace agreement, President Trump’s initiative, the European position or the international position that endorsed and adopted the agreement”.
He said Israel continued to undermine regional security, whether in Gaza, the occupied West Bank, Lebanon or Syria, stressing that this would continue unless Israel was deterred.
