Twelve crew members, including 11 Indian nationals, were injured after a Panama-flagged commercial vessel was struck by a projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman on Tuesday, India’s Ministry of External Affairs said.

The ministry said the vessel had a crew of 19, including 17 Indian nationals.

Omani authorities assisted in evacuating the injured crew members and transporting them to Khasab for medical treatment, according to the ministry.

India condemned the attack and expressed concern over continuing attacks on commercial vessels in the region.

New Delhi called for an end to attacks targeting ships, seafarers and civilian facilities and urged the restoration of navigation and trade through international waterways.
