Hizam Al-Asad, a member of the political bureau of Yemen’s Houthi movement, said the group hopes Pakistan and Turkey will refrain from taking part in military operations against it alongside Saudi Arabia.

“We hope the governments of Pakistan and Turkey will refrain from participating in the aggression by the Saudi enemy and the siege imposed on our country, which has continued for more than 11 years and has resulted in tens of thousands of casualties,” he told Russia’s RIA Novosti news agency.

On Monday, under the Makkah Defence Pact, Turkey and Pakistan decided to move towards the practical implementation of their collective defence commitments and ensure the rapid deployment of troops and military assets in Saudi Arabia.

As the Makkah Defence Pact moves into practical implementation to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s defences with support from Turkey and Pakistan, the Houthis have quickly responded by escalating missile and drone attacks targeting the kingdom’s interior and vital infrastructure.
