MEMO statement on articles removed following OpenAI’s report on an alleged influence operation

It has been brought to our attention that a small number of recent articles published on our platform have been linked to an alleged AI-enabled influence operation identified by OpenAI. We take this matter seriously and have reviewed and removed the articles in question.

MEMO receives a very large volume of article submissions daily. This is the first instance of this kind we have identified. We are reviewing our submissions process and strengthening our editorial safeguards to reduce the risk of a recurrence.
