Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei accused the United States and Israel on Wednesday of fueling instability in the Middle East through military attacks and violations of international law, rejecting Washington’s attempts to hold Tehran responsible for insecurity in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, Baghaei said Washington bears responsibility for escalating regional tensions despite its calls for the international community to condemn Iran over developments in the Gulf.
His remarks came in response to an appeal by the US secretary of state urging other countries to condemn Tehran.
In a statement published in English on X, Baghaei accused the United States and Israel of bearing responsibility for the consequences of their military actions and what he described as violations of international law.
He claimed that Washington and Israel had attacked Iran twice in less than nine months, including while diplomatic negotiations were underway.

Baghaei also accused the two countries of killing children in Minab and young girls in Lamerd, assassinating Iranian officials and intensifying economic sanctions against the Iranian population.
The Iranian spokesperson further accused Washington of violating a memorandum of understanding that he said had been signed on 17th June.
He argued that US efforts to mobilize international condemnation of Iran ignored Washington’s own role in the escalation and its responsibility for regional instability.
The statements reflect continuing tensions between Tehran and Washington over military developments in the region, particularly the security of the Persian Gulf and the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
Baghaei maintained that the United States and Israel, rather than Iran, should be held accountable for the deterioration of regional security.
