Palestine PM calls for international powers to recognise Palestine

Global powers must recognise the State of Palestine in an effort to help it fight Israel’s plans to annex large parts of the occupied West Bank, Palestinian Authority (PA) Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh was reported as saying yesterday.

At the start of the weekly government meeting in Ramallah, Shtayyeh said: “We call for all the world countries, which believe in the two-state solution to respond to the Israeli threats of annexation of the West Bank and recognise a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, the right of return and Jerusalem as Palestine’s capital.”

He also called for the UN member states to send a committee to check the Israeli deduction of Palestinian tax money collected by the occupation.

In this regard, he said: “We will continue rejecting the Israeli deduction of tax money because these deductions are illegal and aim to put pressure on our prisoners inside the Israeli jails. We reject this.”

He also condemned the Israeli aggression on Jerusalem and the Palestinian and Muslim worshippers, noting this is a violation of international law.
