Israel’s Shin Bet Security Service arrested a senior official at a well-known medical institution on suspicion of harming state security, according to local media.

Channel 13 reported yesterday: “The Shin Bet and the Central Unit [a police unit that investigates serious crimes] are investigating a serious suspected security case.”

“A prominent figure in a well-known medical institution was arrested on suspicion of harming state security,” it added without naming the individual, which medical facility the arrest they worked for, or providing further details.

The channel reported that the medical institution “was not surprised, as the senior official had been behaving strangely since the beginning of the war on Gaza, which began on 7 October.”

On Tuesday, Israel Police announced the arrest of three citizens – whose identities were not revealed – on suspicion of carrying out “security activities on the orders of Iranian intelligence agents.” Iranian authorities have issued no comment on the arrests.
