The Government Media Office in Gaza announced on Thursday that the number of journalists killed in the Strip has risen to 232 since the beginning of what it described as the Israeli genocide on 7 October 2023, following the death of journalist Adam Abu Harbeed.
In a statement, the office said:
“The number of journalists killed has increased to 232 since the start of the genocide war on the Gaza Strip, after the death of journalist Adam Abu Harbeed was confirmed.”
It added that Abu Harbeed had worked as a photojournalist with several media outlets.
The office strongly condemned what it called Israel’s systematic targeting of journalists in Gaza, and called on the International Federation of Journalists, the Federation of Arab Journalists, and all press bodies around the world to denounce these ongoing crimes against Palestinian journalists and media professionals in the Strip.
“We hold the Israeli occupation, the United States administration, and the countries involved in the genocide — including the United Kingdom, Germany, and France — fully responsible for committing these heinous and brutal crimes,” the statement added.
