An Israeli security analysis has warned that any formal military alliance between Egypt and Saudi Arabia could significantly alter the regional balance of power and pose a strategic threat to Israel’s southern borders.
The report, published by the Hebrew news website “Natsiv Net,” described the potential Cairo–Riyadh partnership as “the most dangerous front” for Israeli security, noting that the growing coordination between the two militaries could “redraw the map of power in southern occupied Palestine.”
According to the analysis, the combined military strength of Egypt and Saudi Arabia — regarded as the second- and third-largest armies in the region — represents a new strategic reality that Israel “cannot afford to ignore.” The report urged Tel Aviv to develop “appropriate military and strategic responses” to confront what it called a “joint force forming on Israel’s southern flank.”
The warning follows an official visit to Saudi Arabia by Egyptian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, who co-chaired the 11th meeting of the Egyptian–Saudi Military Cooperation Committee with his Saudi counterpart, Lieutenant General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili.
During the meeting, Khalifa hailed the “depth of strategic relations” between Cairo and Riyadh, describing military cooperation as a “pillar of regional security and stability.” Al-Ruwaili reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to strengthening defence coordination with Egypt and to expanding collaboration in advanced military technologies.
