Israeli Defence Minister Yisrael Katz met on Tuesday with his Indian counterpart Rajesh Kumar Singh to discuss expanding military cooperation, as Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) reportedly seeks to secure a major defence contract with New Delhi worth nearly $905 million.

According to Israeli and Indian media, the high-level Indian delegation’s visit to Israel aims to strengthen strategic and defence ties between the two countries. The Indian Ministry of Defence said in a post on X platform that its secretary-general briefed Katz on the outcomes of the Joint Working Group meetings held to enhance bilateral defence collaboration.

The talks come as IAI competes for a tender to convert six Indian civilian aircraft into aerial refuelling tankers, a deal expected to reach up to $905.7 million, according to Israel’s economic daily Globes.

At the same time, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar is visiting New Delhi, where discussions are focused on expanding strategic and defence cooperation amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan.

Israel and India have deepened military and technological ties in recent years, with cooperation spanning air defence systems, drone technology, and cybersecurity.
