The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has strongly denied Israel’s accusations, calling them baseless and unsupported by any evidence.
Speaking to Cairo News TV on Monday evening, UNIFIL spokesperson Kandice Ardiel said the mission remains fully neutral while carrying out its duties in southern Lebanon. She added that UNIFIL works to support local communities and only shares information when necessary, in full compliance with its mandate.
Ardiel said the mission will investigate the recent allegations. She noted that UNIFIL’s presence on the ground can sometimes upset different parties, but this is part of carrying out its role.
She reaffirmed that the mission’s work is guided by complete impartiality and focused on implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which provides the main framework for UNIFIL’s operations in southern Lebanon.
Responding to claims that UNIFIL has passed information to other parties, Ardiel said these allegations are entirely unfounded. She stressed that the mission has not shared any such information and that its role is strictly limited to supporting stability and enforcing Resolution 1701.
