The civil defence service in Gaza said on Wednesday that more than 250,000 families living in displacement camps across the Strip are facing harsh conditions as cold weather sets in and heavy rain continues.

The service explained that most of these families are sheltering in worn-out tents that are not suitable for coping with flooding.

It added that the atmospheric depression will deepen Thursday, as rain will become more consistent in the morning and afternoon, covering various areas. Its peak impact will occur on Thursday afternoon, evening, and night, lasting until Friday morning, during which heavy rain will fall.

The service noted that parts of Gaza will see intense downpours at times, especially early on Friday, with varying amounts of rain in other districts. It warned of the risk of flooding in wide areas of the Gaza Strip.
