More than 75 per cent of Iran’s missile and drone capabilities remain intact and ready for use despite Israeli and US attacks, an Iranian military official said on Wednesday, contradicting US President Donald Trump’s assessment of the damage to Iran’s military capabilities.
Iran’s official IRNA news agency quoted Brigadier General Ali Reza Sheikh, deputy army commander for executive affairs, as saying that US and Israeli attacks had not been as effective as Washington claimed.
“More than 75 per cent of Iran’s missile and drone capabilities remained intact and ready,” Sheikh said.
He described Iran’s drone system as having become a “nightmare for the enemy”, in a message aimed at stressing Tehran’s continued ability to use the system despite the strikes.
His comments contrast sharply with an assessment given by Trump last month, when he said Iran had only about 21 to 22 per cent of its previous missile stockpile remaining.
