Hebrew media reports said on Sunday that US envoy Tom Barrack will set clear red lines on Israeli activity in Syria during his meeting on Monday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

A report by the Hebrew-language channel i24news said the US envoy arrives in Israel today to meet Netanyahu and other officials to discuss several regional issues, with a strong focus on Syria.

According to the report, the US administration sees Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa as an ally who is trying to stabilise Syria and move the country forward. For this reason, Washington wants to avoid any steps it believes could weaken his rule.

The report added that the US administration fears that frequent Israeli operations could lead to the collapse of the Syrian system. It also said Washington wants to reach a security agreement related to Syria.

Earlier this month, US President Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social account: “it is “very important that Israel maintain a strong and true dialogue with Syria, and that nothing takes place that will interfere with Syria’s evolution into a prosperous State.” He added: “Syria’s new President, Ahmed al-Sharaa, is working diligently to make sure good things happen, and that both Syria and Israel will have a long and prosperous relationship together.”

Barrack is due to arrive in Israel on Monday as part of a new regional visit, during which he is expected to discuss the Syria file and efforts to reduce tensions with Lebanon.
