Employees of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) staged a sit-in in front of its administrative headquarters in the Gaza Strip, expressing their strong dissatisfaction with the arbitrary decision to dismiss 600 employees.

Dr. Mustafa Al-Ghoul, head of the employees’ union, stated that this measure was unjust and arbitrary, and that UNRWA must reverse its decision.

He added that further action would be taken in the future. He explained that the employees who left were forced to do so to save their lives, were accompanying patients, were injured in the war, or suffered from illnesses.

This necessitates a reconsideration of the situation, especially since they were still employed.

He asserted that the decision violates all international laws, leaving the families of these employees destitute.

He noted that these employees were able to travel when the crossing was open and functioning.
