Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan said on Monday that the future of relations between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi is linked to the United Arab Emirates’ full withdrawal from Yemen.
Speaking at a press conference in Warsaw, bin Farhan said: “The Kingdom has always been keen to build strong and positive relations with the UAE,” describing the partnership between the two countries as an important factor in regional stability.
He said the UAE’s decision on withdrawing from Yemen represents a turning point in bilateral relations, adding: “The UAE has now decided to leave Yemen and I think if that indeed is the case and the UAE has completely left the issue of Yemen, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will take responsibility.”
The Saudi foreign minister said this approach could form the basis for continuing strong ties between the two countries. He added: “I think that will be the building block for making sure that the relationship with the UAE continues strong and continues to serve the interests not just of both countries but the region.”
These remarks reflect a Saudi approach aimed at redefining roles within regional alliances, while stressing the priority of national security and regional stability.
