Tensions rise in Tel Aviv as Netanyahu asks: “Is Trump still with us? I’m worried.”

The planned summit between the United States and Iran in Geneva on Thursday is seen in Washington as a crucial opportunity to advance talks on a new nuclear agreement.

While President Donald Trump’s advisers, including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, are seeking to allow more room for diplomacy, other figures within his circle are pressing for military action against Tehran if no breakthrough is achieved.

According to Israel’s Channel 12 News, the perceived hesitation in Washington is causing concern in Tel Aviv. A US source who met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week said Netanyahu left his meeting with President Trump at the White House without clarity over the president’s intentions.

The same source quoted Netanyahu as asking: “Is Trump still with us? I’m worried.”

Israel is expected to closely monitor the outcome of the Geneva talks, particularly in light of the anticipated arrival of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is due to meet Netanyahu two days later.

Earlier on Sunday, senior US officials said they were demanding that Iran submit a detailed proposal for a nuclear agreement within 48 hours, by Tuesday, ahead of President Trump’s expected State of the Union address.
