The UAE’s diplomatic adviser Anwar Gargash has said that the ongoing conflict with Iran is bringing Gulf states closer to the United States and Israel, following recent Iranian missile attacks on the region.
Gargash said Iran had “miscalculated” by targeting the UAE and other Gulf countries, arguing that the attacks had strengthened regional alignment with Washington and Tel Aviv.
“Iran miscalculated by attacking the UAE and other Gulf states, which has pushed it closer to Israel and the United States,” he said, adding that the developments underscore concerns over Iran’s nuclear and missile programmes.

He also indicated that the UAE is considering participating in efforts to secure shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil supplies.
“This is not just the responsibility of the United States, but also of countries in Asia, the region and Europe,” Gargash said, calling for broader international involvement in safeguarding the strategic waterway.
The remarks come after US President Donald Trump urged allies, including NATO members and East Asian partners, to assist in securing the strait. However, many countries have reportedly been reluctant to join such efforts.
The Strait of Hormuz has become a focal point in the escalating confrontation involving Iran, the United States and Israel, with rising concerns over the security of global energy supplies and the risk of further regional escalation.
