Qatar has strongly condemned the Israeli targeting of facilities linked to Iran’s South Pars gas field, describing the strike as a “dangerous and irresponsible” escalation.
In a statement on Wednesday, Majid Mohammed Al-Ansari, adviser to the Prime Minister and spokesperson for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, warned that attacks on energy infrastructure pose serious risks to both the region and global markets.
He stressed that the South Pars field — which forms a natural extension of Qatar’s North Field — is part of the world’s largest natural gas reserve, accounting for around 17% of global gas supplies.

“Targeting such facilities represents a dangerous and irresponsible step,” Al-Ansari said, adding that it threatens global energy security, as well as the safety of populations and the environment.
Qatar reiterated its call for all parties to avoid targeting vital infrastructure, urging restraint and adherence to international law amid the intensifying conflict.
The condemnation follows reports that Israel launched missile strikes on Iranian energy facilities in coordination with the United States, damaging refineries at the South Pars field in the Asaluyeh region of southern Iran, according to Iranian media.
The incident has heightened concerns over the vulnerability of key energy infrastructure in the Gulf and the potential impact on global energy supplies as regional tensions continue to escalate.
