Israeli forces detained Palestinian-American journalist Naqaa Hamed at a military checkpoint in Tuqu, southeast of Bethlehem, on Tuesday evening, local sources said.

The forces stopped Hamed as she crossed the checkpoint in the town, before detaining her and taking her to an unknown location, the sources said.

Later, Israeli forces set up another military checkpoint in the Al-Jurn area of Battir village, west of Bethlehem, stopping Palestinian motorists, searching their vehicles and checking their identities.

Hamed is a Palestinian-American dual national and has previously faced an incitement campaign on Israeli websites and social media platforms over her coverage of events in Qusra, south of Nablus. The village has witnessed repeated attacks by Israeli settlers and attempts to seize homes there.
