Israeli settlers, on Tuesday, attacked Palestinian farmers harvesting olives in the Wadi al-Nar area east of Marda village, north of Salfit in the occupied West Bank, injuring two brothers and stealing the olives they had collected.
Local sources said the attack took place while farmers from Marda and the nearby town of Jamma’in were working in the area. They said the two brothers, Mohammed and Nasrallah Majed Aqil Khafsh, were injured in the attack.
The brothers were taken to the Martyr Yasser Arafat Hospital in Salfit, where their condition was described as stable. The settlers also seized the olives collected by the farmers, the sources said.
The attack comes as the olive-picking season gets under way, amid a rise in settler attacks on farmers and their fields in Salfit governorate.
The latest data from the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission (officially the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission – CWRC) shows that settlers have carried out more than 14,742 attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since 7 October 2023, killing 66 Palestinians.
