Hamas on Tuesday condemned Israeli military raids on human rights and women’s organisations in Ramallah and the arrest of dozens of Palestinians in Nablus, describing the operations as part of a broader campaign of repression in the occupied West Bank.

In a statement received by Quds Press, senior Hamas official Mahmoud Mardawi said the raids and arrests reflected what he described as Israel’s efforts to weaken Palestinian institutions and undermine Palestinians’ determination to remain on their land.

Mardawi accused Israeli forces of targeting human rights and women’s organisations in Ramallah while conducting a large-scale arrest campaign in Nablus.

He specifically cited the raid on the headquarters of Al-Dameer, a Palestinian human rights organization, saying Israeli forces had confiscated property and materials from its offices.

According to Mardawi, the operation demonstrated Israel’s targeting of Palestinian organisations working to document human rights violations and defend the rights of prisoners and other Palestinians.

He argued that raids on human rights organisations would not prevent them from documenting alleged Israeli violations or drawing attention to the experiences of Palestinians.

Mardawi said the operations would instead strengthen the determination of Palestinian institutions and political groups to continue defending their rights.

He also maintained that Israeli military incursions, institutional raids and arrests would not deter Palestinians from defending their land and religious sites.

Mardawi called on the international community and international human rights and humanitarian organisations to intervene urgently to halt the operations and pursue accountability for those responsible.
