Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Monday that Europe is paying the price for its miscalculations, just like the United States, arguing that its policies had contributed to wars and other problems around the world.
He was speaking at a joint press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Tehran.
Araghchi said Europe was complicit with the United States in attacks on Iran, pointing to events in France.
“Europe must face the truth. Just like the United States, Europe is paying the price for its mistakes, and its misguided policies are the cause of many of the wars and problems facing the world today,” he said.
Araghchi stressed that diplomacy is the only way to address crises in the region and that problems could not be resolved through military means.
Lavrov, meanwhile, accused the United States and Israel of attacking Iran without justification, saying Russia is ready to help resolve the crisis.
He stressed the need to ensure the safety of shipping in the Gulf and prevent further attacks on Iran.
On Ukraine, Lavrov said the Ukrainian government and some European countries were acting irresponsibly, and thanked Iran for supporting Russia’s proposals.
