Hamas says resignation of the Palestinian negotiating team is senseless

The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has said that the resignation of the Palestinian negotiating team "is senseless as long as negotiations with Israel continue."

The Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said that the Palestinian negotiating team has submitted its resignation as the negotiations did not achieve any real progress. Abbas denied that the resignation would prevent conducting further talks with the Israeli side.

Sami Abu Zuhri, Hamas spokesman, said "the resignation of the negotiating team is meaningless. What is required is a complete halt to all talks with Israel and not to replace one delegation with another. The resignation is merely media uproar."
