Gaza pilgrims given passage to Makkah

Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh yesterday thanked the Arab Republic of Egypt for granting the rite of passage to Gazan pilgrims to go perform Hajj.

Speaking after the evening prayers at Shaykh Zayd Masjid in Gaza, Hanieyh addressed the pilgrims, many of whom, if not all, came from families of those who had been martyred by the Occupying Power  or with loved ones currently imprisoned by the Occupation regime.

He reminded the pilgrims to represent the Palestinian people with dignity and honor to all the Muslims they encounter during their Hajj, stating: ‘You are representing the bloodshed of your people and their suffering.’

A total of 4403 pilgrims travelled between the borders from Gaza, via El Arish International Airport, en route to King Abdullah Aziz Airport in Jeddah. The Rafah crossing will close its doors between 15th – 20th of this month (November) during ‘Eid ul-Adha.
